Rumor runs rampant about the evacuation and the Second Vampire War, especially so soon after supposedly winning the first and putting an end to the Undead menace. What does seem clear, though, is that somehow the Vampires, by some great controlling force or ally, turned the nobility on one another, seizing control in a suspiciously similar ploy as the First Vampire War. In the confusion of multiple Illcaran groups battling, the Vampires took over House Lundor. However it happened, and whatever dark force is behind it, it appears that once again Vampires have reduced the kingdom of Illcara to a few holdout fortifications and an evacuation of civilians into neighboring Evendarr the likes of which has not been seen since the end of the First Vampire War a decade ago. A great source of puzzlement comes from the Sothrun Waagh, a greenskin and miscellaneous force that may be working for, working with, controlled by, or simply in the way of The Undead. The Stronghold of the Undead looks to be in the North, Willowbrook or Illcara City... or both... and the Last of House Lundor seems to be deep at the heart of it all. The Orcish forces are based quite far, in the Southwestern "Badlands" area, and the two often come to blows in between. The largest strongholds of Illcaran Holdout Troops include Talia Keep / Meadowglen, Keplaria, The Crossroads / Sylune Keep, Cypress, and Menka / The Last Stand, though hideouts too small to attract the attention of the Undead still stand fast kingdom wide. The Gypsies of Keplar and the Sunrunner Wizards of Silverstream (and the still-standing Mydian city of Whitepool just over the mountains) coordinate travel of troops and evacuation of the defenseless through underground passageways and the safer rivers. Horrifying spiders stalk the depths and angry Giants the wild woods. In the distance the beating of massive wings and the cry of dragons add more mystery yet.
Can the survivors find new allies and secret weapons to turn back the tide and reclaim Illcara once again from this new Vampire Menace? Will you be the one to fight the final battle?
